How to Choose Your Leather

Thickness and flexibility: Consider how the finished item needs to bend, fold or hold its shape. Allow for the combined thickness of stitched layers.

Cut and usable size: Check your pattern dimensions against the listed leather size. A hide’s total area does not guarantee a particular rectangular cutting area.

Tannage and finish: Choose leather suited to the techniques you plan to use. Natural tooling leather and coloured, finished leather can behave differently when carved, dyed or moulded.

Product details: Review the listed thickness, approximate area, colour, grade and shipping notes before ordering. Natural grain, markings and colour variation can differ between pieces.
