How to Use the 2.5mm Leather Punch
Place the leather on a quality poly punching board, end-grain timber block or another suitable cutting surface. Position the cutting edge where the hole is required and hold the punch upright.
Strike the top of the tool firmly with an appropriate leathercraft mallet. Use enough force for the cutting edge to pass cleanly through the leather and reach the work surface underneath. The exact force required will depend on the leather’s thickness, firmness and density.
Avoid driving the wider tapered body deeply into the leather. Doing so may stretch or enlarge the hole beyond the intended 2.5mm diameter. Never punch directly onto concrete, stone or metal, as hard surfaces can damage the cutting edge.
